Richard A. Tamayo, DMD
MEET DR. TAMAYO
Dr. Richard A. Tamayo was born and raised in Miami, Florida and is fluent in English and Spanish. After his own personal experiences with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery procedures, his passion for the field developed and he researched the necessary pathways to pursue his interests. He obtained his Bachelor of Science at Florida International University and then pursued his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree at the University of Florida College of Dentistry located in Gainesville, Florida.
After graduation, Dr. Tamayo participated in a One-Year Internship followed by a Four-Year Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Gainesville, Florida. During his residency he received extensive training in areas including Anesthesiology, Corrective Jaw Surgery, Orthognathic, Temporomandibular Joint Surgery under world-renowned surgeon M. Franklin Dolwick, Reconstructive and Facial Trauma Surgery, Benign Pathology, and Dentoalveolar Surgery. Dr. Tamayo also had the privilege of training at the Center for Implant Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida, where he received extensive dental implant training using state-of-the-art techniques and technology.
In his free time, Dr. Tamayo enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, June. He also enjoys cooking, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. He is very excited to work and be able to return back to the community he grew up in.
