Meet Dr. Brown
Dr. Lawrence R. Brown is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Certification Maintenance through December 31, 2024. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in the City of New York. After graduation from Dental School at Columbia University he completed a seven-year residency. First, Dr. Brown completed a one-year General Practice Residency followed by another one year Junior Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, NY. Thereafter, Dr. Brown completed a fully accredited four-year oral and maxillofacial residency training program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Upon graduation, Dr. Brown completed a one-year Senior Fellowship at The Orofacial Pain Dentofacial Deformities Center under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth Rotskoff, located at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, MO. Currently, Dr. Brown continues his education by attending various renowned lectures and rigorous courses several times a year to ensure his patients are receiving the latest techniques and treatments available in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Brown has proudly provided oral and maxillofacial surgery services to the Miami Heat Basketball Team and the University of Miami Hurricanes athletes for over 20 years. He also has provided his surgical services to the Florida International University Golden Panther athletes. Dr. Brown is extremely proud of earning THREE National Basketball Association World Championship Rings with the Miami Heat in the 2006, 2012, and 2013 seasons. One of his other cherished possessions is earning a NCAA Division 1-A University of Miami Hurricanes National Championship Ring at the 2001 BCS Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA as the team Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon.
Dr. Brown has been practicing in the Dadeland area since July 1994. Presently he holds admitting and operating room privileges at Baptist Hospital of Miami and South Miami Hospital. He is licensed by the Florida Board of Dentistry. His most recent academic publication can be found in The Dental Clinics of North America April 2016 titled “Conscious Intravenous Sedation in Dentistry” A Review of Current Therapy.
Dr. Brown lives in Miami with his wife, Sandra, and three children. Dr. Brown and his family’s hobbies include attendance to various sports events such as Miami Heat Basketball games and University of Miami Hurricanes sport games. Dr. Brown is an avid sports fan and his passion is following college football. He is a proud supporter and Golden Cane member of the University of Miami Hurricanes Athletics.
Dr. Brown is also committed to his community by donating his surgical services to patients in need through Donated Dental Services as well as other charitable contributions to the various high schools and the Junior League of Miami. Due to these passions, Dr. Brown and and his wife, Sandra, are the biggest supporters of their children’s participation in youth sports and philanthropic endeavors.
